User Fees In Province Way Up Under The Liberals

User fees have been raised to the tune of 2.8 million dollars by the provincial government despite the fact Premier Brian Gallant denounced higher fees when the Conservatives held the reins of power, calling it a betrayal of the public’s trust.

Provincial NDP leader Dominic Cardy calls it another example of the two old line parties doing one thing in opposition and quite another when in charge.

Cardy says hundreds of millions of dollars could be saved by ending corporate welfare and following the legislation passed by former Alberta Premier Ralph Klein. His government passed legislation stipulating each handout to private business had to be approved by members of the Alberta Legislature.

Cardy also points out many taxpayers are getting hit with a double whammy…….Not only are they getting hit with higher fees but they also have to drive longer distances to pay up because of the closure of some Service NB locations.
