Upgrades To New Brunswick’s 511 Service

Using New Brunswick’s 511 highway and traffic information service just got a whole lot easier.

The province announced last week that it had launched an enhanced version of the service.

Updates were recently made to its website, the 511 New Brunswick mobile app, and the 511 phone system, said a news release on Thursday.

They include enhanced map features, new customized notifications and hands-free audio alerts.

You can now include your phone number when creating your account to get text notifications on traffic incidents and road closures.

Entering your destination in the mobile app will give you up to three route options with corresponding travel times. You will get hands-free audio alerts for the selected route.

You can also create a list of your favourite traffic cameras to view what is happening on the road.

In addition, a new interactive voice response on the 511 phone system allows for hands-free access to alerts and travel times.

The mobile app is available through the App Store for Apple devices and Google Play for Android devices.
