UPDATE: Woman’s Body Pulled From Petitcodiac River

Codiac RCMP are working to identify a body pulled out of the Petitcodiac River early Sunday morning.

Sergeant Andre Pepin says they were called around 8 this morning from someone walking on the Riverfront Trail.

“[The person] saw what looked like a body in the water, police, ambulance and fire were dispatched, the body was recovered about half an hour, 40 minutes later,” says Pepin.

He says the body was initially found in the water behind Chateau Moncton, but as time went on it began to drift towards Riverview where eventually Riverview Fire pulled the body from the water.

In a news release, Codiac RCMP said the body is of a woman, believed to be in her late fifties or sixties.

An autopsy will be conducted to help determine a cause of death.
