Snow began falling in Greater Moncton Thursday morning and roads were getting greasy by the noon hour.
Southeast New Brunswick is under a freezing rain warning with up to 20 mm of freezing rain expected from this storm system along with snow and ice pellets.
Weather Network meteorologist Doug Gilham says snow will change over to ice pellets by late Thursday and then to freezing rain on Friday before changing back to snow Friday night.
Up to 20 cm of snow and ice pellets is likely for Greater Moncton.
Saint John, the Kennebecasis Valley and most of Nova Scotia are also under freezing rain warnings.
Environment Canada has posted snowfall warnings for northern New Brunswick with up to 35 cm likely.
Gilham adds the storm system should finally taper off by early Saturday with a few flurries and colder conditions expected.
