UPDATE: Moncton’s courthouse evacuated after bomb threat

The Moncton courthouse had to be evacuated after a bomb threat was phoned in to police.

RCMP Sgt. Joel Arsenault said they received a 911 call at around 9:15 a.m. Friday.

Arsenault said the caller told police there was a bomb inside the provincial court.

Police contacted sheriffs at the courthouse, who evacuated the building.

Arsenault said nothing suspicious was found in the courthouse and they determined there was a “low risk” to the public.

The investigation is ongoing, he said, adding they expect to release more information in the near future.

Main Street was closed between Assomption Boulevard and Westmorland Street but reopened by 11:20 a.m.
