It was close… but not close enough for a world record in Moncton.
The Hub City Young Professionals Network set up a speed networking event at the Coliseum today which attracted 890 people.
Unfortunately, that figure is 178 people away from the current record of 1089.
An official from Guinness World Records made that determination during the noon hour.
The record attempt lasted about 75 minutes and started at 9am today.
Hub City Young Professionals Network president Patrick Richard said participants were expected to connect with 20 different individuals in a setting similar to speed dating.
The goal had been to attract about 3000 people.
