The milder weather has meant a problem with rodents for some residents in the city’s north end, but whose responsibility is it to get rid of them?
Residents have been reporting on social media, that they’ve discovered rats on their property this winter.
Earlier this week, we talked to the Branch Manager at Abell Pest Control and he confirmed that there has been an increase in calls to deal with the unwanted critters which is unusual, especially at this time of year.
Some residents feel it is the city’s responsibility to get rid of the rats.
But Spokesperson Isabelle Leblanc says that isn’t the case, “The only time the city would be involved is if they do get a report of an unsightly premise or a garbage pile-up on a certain property.”
She says this applies to any type of rodent.
The best thing a resident can do if they have an unwanted critter, is contact a pest control company.
