UNB Student In Fredericton Diagnosed With Tuberculosis

A University of New Brunswick student in Fredericton has been diagnosed with tuberculosis, an infection disease caused by bacteria that spread through the air.

The university says the student lives in residence, is receiving treatment and is recovering well. UNB is helping Public Health come up with a list of whoever might have been in contact with the student. It states that Public Health officials think only people who had close contact with the student might be at risk of being infected as TB isn’t easily trasmitted from person-to-person and you need close and prolonged contact to do so.

Public Health will let anyone from the university know if they need to be screened.

UNB says it will be providing updates as they become available.
