Two teens arrested after armed robbery, assaults

Two teenagers have been charged after a series of incidents around Moncton, Riverview and Dieppe.

Codiac Regional RCMP responded April 29 to multiple reports of a grey SUV being driven dangerously in all three communities.

Police tried to stop the vehicle but were unsuccessful.

Later the same evening, police responded to a report of an assault involving two people in the same vehicle.

Police said the victims were sprayed with pepper spray before the suspects fled.

Shortly after that, police received a report of an armed robbery at a business on Paul Street in Dieppe involving the same suspects.

Police were told the suspects stole merchandise from the location, and when they were confronted by a store employee, one suspect waved a knife while the other used pepper spray.

Five people were affected by the pepper spray, including customers and employees.

The victims were treated for their injuries.

Early on April 30, police received another report of dangerous driving involving the same vehicle.

Police located the SUV on Dieppe Boulevard.

The suspects tried to escape police via a dirt road off Dieppe Boulevard after the successful use of a tire deflation device.

After a short foot pursuit, police arrested an 18-year-old and a 16-year-old.

The 16-year-old was wanted on a warrant.

Both appeared in court later on April 30.

The 16-year-old was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, as well as charges in connection with several separate, unrelated incidents.

The 18-year-old was charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon and uttering threats.
