Two New Brunswickers Named To Order Of Canada

The Governor General of Canada has announced 120 new appointments to the Order of Canada.

Of note, former Prime Minister Stephen Harper has been named a companion, the highest level of honour in the Order.

Oscar-winning director James Cameron and Nobel Prize-winning physicist Donna Strickland were also named as companions.

Also on the list is Cirque du Soleil co-founder Gilles Ste-Croix.

Two New Brunswickers have also been appointed to the Order.

Omer Chouinard from Moncton is being recognized for his efforts to protect ecosystems in the Maritimes as a professor of environmental studies.

As is Derek Lister of Fredericton, for his contributions to nuclear energy research and improvements to occupational safety.
