Two New Brunswick Artists Selected To Participate In Sculpture SJ

A jury chose eight artists from 150 international applications for this year’s edition of Sculpture Saint John and two of those selected are New Brunswickers.

Jim Boyd of Hampton is one of them and he has taken part in the event since the very beginning. This year his community partner is the Port of Saint John. Boyd says the working on site is challenging because they choose their stone within a couple of days and have to develop the idea really quickly. He says he often goes in with a rough idea of what he wants to do but you really have to work with the shape of your stone so things change and develop as you go.

The other New Brunswickers is Julie Glaspy, who was an intern with Sculpture Saint John in 2014. The other artists are from France, South Korea, Italy, and the U.S.
