Two Federal Leaders’ Debates This Week

Leaders of the six major federal parties are preparing for two national debates this week.

The English-language debate takes place Monday while the French-language debate is on Thursday.

Each debate will cover five different topics, with the English one focusing on affordability and economic insecurity, environment and energy, Indigenous issues, leadership in Canada and on the global stage, and polarization, human rights and immigration.

The debates will be streamed on television, radio and online in a wide range of languages.

Monday’s debate will take place from 8 to 10 p.m. Thursday’s debate is set for 9 to 11 p.m.

Leaders of the following parties have been invited to take part:

  • Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet
  • Conservative leader Andrew Scheer
  • Green party leader Elizabeth May
  • Liberal leader Justin Trudeau
  • NDP leader Jagmeet Singh
  • People’s Party leader Maxime Bernier
