The Board of Governors at UNB has approved the 2016-17 operating budget which will have a deficit of $2.6 million.
The operating grant from the province was frozen for the second year in a row. UNB will be increasing tuition by 5% with a 3% tuition rebate to New Brunswick students but for International students, there will be an increase of 10%.
The budget contains spending cuts of about $5.3 million, including staff and faculty reductions but total scholarship and student aid funding is being increased by 5.5% to $9.3 million.
