Trudeau Stops In Riverview To Meet With Supporters

Liberal party supporters of all ages gathered in a park in Riverview today, hoping to get the chance to meet with the federal leader.

Justin Trudeau visited the Mill Creek Nature Park alongside Fundy-Royal Liberal candidate, Alaina Lockhart.

“We had hundreds of people here today who were quite happy to come out and meet the Prime Minister. We’ve been different as a government in being out in the community, myself as the candidate but also the Prime Minister has been very accessible to Canadians,” she says.

Lockhart was grateful to have the opportunity to show the federal candidate a more rural area of New Brunswick

“I was happy to bring the Prime Minister to a rural. Yes, we’re just outside of Moncton-Riverview-Dieppe but this is much more representative of rural New Brunswick and I think it’s important to have that perspective as part of our campaign as well,” says Lockhart.

She says this gave her the opportunity to discuss the issues residents of those areas are facing.

“I was pleased to have the Prime Minister here today to be able to tell him about what I’m hearing at the doors, about how important investments are and that we can’t afford to take any more cuts. I really appreciate his visits, it certainly gives us lots of momentum going into the last 6 days of the campaign and hoping for some positive results on the 21st,” Lockhart says.

Trudeau didn’t make a speech or take any media questions. He is holding a rally in Halifax later tonight.
