Tricycle Ride Program To Expand In Dieppe

An eco-friendly mode of transportation aimed at seniors proved to be a big hit in Dieppe last summer.

Mayor Yvon Lapierre says a large tricycle which accommodates passengers began as a pilot project employing two students and is set for expansion in 2020.

“The popularity of it, for our senior citizens in particular, made it such that we are looking at a second vehicle. So we will operate two (tricycles) and (will be) employing four students for the summer,” he notes.

Driven by students, seniors were able to book free trips on the tricycle for leisure or to run errands.

Lapierre adds the program also promoted inter-generational exchanges between students and seniors.
