Travel Advisories Issued For U.S., Hong Kong

Amnesty International is suggesting visitors travelling to or around the United State do so with caution.

It’s issued a travel advisory because of what it calls ‘rampant gun violence’ in the States.

The advisory warns travelers to be extra vigilant and suggests avoiding places like cultural events, churches, and shopping malls.

Amnesty International says the US has the right to protect people from the threat of gun violence but doesn’t think it’s down enough to meet that obligation.

Additionally, anyone travelling to Hong Kong is being told by Ottawa to be careful.

The government has issued a travel advisory which asks you to exercise a high degree of caution due to ongoing large-scale demonstrations.

The advisory says since June 9th, several protests have taken place on Hong Kong Island, in Kowloon and in various suburbs in the New Territories.

The advisory goes on to say there are identifiable safety and security concerns or the safety and security situation could change with little notice.
