Saskatchewan RCMP have confirmed that the tractor-trailer involved in the Humboldt Broncos bus crash was in the intersection at the time of the collision, and police say all of their efforts are dedicated to finding out why.
The crash which claimed 16 lives happened in eastern Saskatchewan on April 6 as the tractor trailer was travelling on Highway 335 and the bus northbound on Highway 35.
Assistant Commissioner Curtis Zablocki says the driver of the tractor trailer unit was taken into custody right after the crash and released later that evening. There haven’t been any charges laid.
Zablocki says the investigation is still in the evidence recovery and collection stage and that over 50 interviews have been conducted and 5500 photos taken.
The crash happened near Tisdale, Saskatchewan as the bus carrying members of the junior hockey team was travelling to Nipawan for a playoff game.
