Tracadie Man Charged With Murder and Arson After Two Bodies Found

The bodies of a man and a woman have been found inside a burned-out home in Six Roads near Tracadie and a 19-year-old man is now facing several charges.

RCMP say they were called to a house fire early Sunday where one man managed to escape and was hospitalized in critical condition.

A second man was found nearby and arrested.

Due to the intensity of the fire, Mounties are trying to determine the identifications of the two people found and are working to see if anyone else was inside.

Benoit Bertin of Tracadie has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder and arson.

He has been sent for a 30-day psychiatric evaluation and returns to court on December 13th.
