Three people have died after a two vehicle crash on Highway 11 near Belledune around 11 yesterday morning.
The preliminary investigation by Bathurst RCMP indicates a pickup truck carrying two people heading northbound crossed over into the oncoming lane and collided with another pickup hauling a trailer with two horses onboard.
A passenger in the northbound pickup, a 77-year old woman from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland was pronounced dead at the Chaleur Regional Hospital.
A 73-year old man, from the same town, who was driving the vehicle is in hospital with what are believed to be non life threatening injuries.
Both occupants of the southbound vehicle, a 69-year old man, and a 23-year old man from McKenzie Corner, N.B. were both pronounced dead at the scene.
The two horses also did not survive the crash.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the investigation.
