Three Fires In NB Leave 16 People Temporarily Homeless

It was a busy long weekend for the Canadian Red Cross who assisted the victims of three fires in different communities across the province.

A total of 16 people were left temporarily homeless.

A family of five were forced out of their home after a fire broke out in Grand Manan on Sunday.

The couple, their three year old twins and a seven year old are currently staying with relatives, while the Red Cross is helping with clothing and food.

Nine tenants of a two storey building on Broadway Avenue in Grand Falls were displaced by fire on Saturday afternoon.

The second floor apartments and a main level clothing store were damaged.

In Fredericton, a couple were left homeless after a fire on Saturday afternoon that damaged a three storey building on Brunswick Street with offices and apartments.

The fire damaged a third storey apartment, attic and roof of the building, as well as a Women’s Care Centre that is run by the New Brunswick Right To Life Association.
