Three Arrested In Drug Trafficking Investigation

The seizure of weapons and drugs from a Moncton home, lead to the arrest of three people.

RCMP searched an apartment on Bonaccord Street at around 5:30am this morning as a part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking.

During the search, they seized what is believed to be crack cocaine, as well as an unsecured loaded revolver, a replica semi-automatic airsoft rifle, ammunition, and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Thirty-two-year-old Edmond Babineau and a 41-year-old Hugh John Ryan, both from Moncton, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court by tele-remand on Friday.

They were charged with unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon and have been remanded into custody.

The two men are scheduled to return to court on April 25 for a bail hearing,

A 37-year-old woman, also from Moncton, was later released.

The investigation was conducted by the Codiac Crime Reduction Unit.

Members of the New Brunswick RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services, and Codiac Regional RCMP assisted with the arrests and search.
