Thousands Of Packages Worth Millions With Illicit Health Products Seized This Year

Thousands of packages were refused or seized at border crossings and mail processing centres in Canada this year.

That is part of Operation Pangea, a global effort to interrupt the online sale of counterfeit or illicit pharmaceuticals or medical devices.

Canadian efforts totaled almost 3,900 packages, worth $2.51 million.

They had a range of products inside from counterfeit diet pills, to erectile dysfunction medication, and substandard medical devices.

This year law enforcement also focused on shutting down websites selling illegal health products, with 4,932 shut down, 46 with Canadian assistance.
