Labour Day Rockfest gets underway later today at Metro Moncton’s newest concert site, the River Glen Amphitheatre off Salisbury Road.
Five acts including headliner Burton Cummings will take the stage in the only outdoor concert in the region this summer.
Promoter Emery Bourque says the site will hold about 10,000 people and fans should have no problem with sight lines, “it doesn’t matter where you are going to be sitting, you will have a nice view of the site. it is the perfect intimate size of venue to hold a concert.”
He adds, there is parking on site, but it could be slow getting out, with the number of fans they are expecting, “There will be a bit of a traffic jam, yes, but we do have people safely controlling it and also on Salisbury Road to ensure we can get the people safely out.”
Tickets are still available at all Jean Coutu locations and at the concert’s main gate.
The gates will open at 1:30 and the first act, the Stampeders, are expected to take the stage around 3 followed by Sass Jordan, Gowan, Nazareth and Burton Cummings.
