The Owner of Garland’s Renovations in Moncton is taking extra steps to prevent another theft.
His trailer, full of work tools, that was parked in his driveway on Edgett Avenue, was broken into this week.
Thomas Garland says he parked his truck and trailer at around 9:30 Wednesday night, but it wasn’t until he came out of his home the next morning that he discovered the damage..
“Someone broke into my work trailer and stole about $3500 worth of tools that I use everyday. They broke the padlock off the back of the trailer door. They were mostly power tools including a small generator, reciprocating saw, skills saws, impact drills and a hammer drill. I use the Ridgid brand, so the tools are orange.”
He believes they must have known what they were looking for.
Garland says “I have lettering on the back on my truck, but I didn’t letter up my trailer, because I have seen quite a few company trailers get broken into. I thought without the lettering it might deter a thief.”
He filed a report to the Codiac RCMP, but he is asking if anyone has any information, to please contact them.
Garland says they’re investing in a security camera and a more expensive lock for the trailer.
“It is unsettling for us at home, knowing that someone, fifteen feet away from our bedroom window, broke into the work trailer, and stole the tools,” Garland adds.
The good news is, he has insurance.
