The Work Day Is Changing

Working 9-5 might be a thing of the past.

According to a survey, almost half of all senior managers allow employees to pick the hours that they work.

A third of those that responded don’t mind if their direct employees put in less than 40 hours, as long as the work gets done.

You’re likely to have a more flexible work schedule if you work for a company that has a thousand or more employees and/or if you work remotely.

However, with those perks of flexible hours and a relaxed dress code there are some cons. The survey also indicated:

  • 61 per cent say they need at least eight hours a day to get their job done.
  • 52 per cent report attending more video calls now than six months ago. Employees overall feel more than one-third of time spent in these meetings (34 per cent) is wasted.
  • 52 per cent never completely disconnect from work during business hours and feel obligated to respond to messages and requests immediately, even during breaks.
