The Snowbirds Are Too Pricey For The SJ Airport

It’s disappointing to hear the Saint John Airport will not be hosting the world famous Snowbirds this summer.

Saint John Airport Board Chair Norm McFarlane says the cost of the event escalated from near $75,000 to the $100,000 mark.

He says they didn’t feel they should be spending that kind of money and they have another show planned for next year so they will put the Snowbirds money towards next year’s event.

McFarlane says extra costs were associated with closed roads and hiring police for the event but he maintains the Saint John has the capability of hosting the event.

The Snowbirds performed at the Greater Moncton International Airport last year.
