The Calm After The Storm In Moncton

It is expected to be business as usual in Greater Moncton this morning, after two straight days of winter weather walloped the region.

Around 50 centimetres fell on the city over two days, and high winds created havoc for anyone trying to get anywhere.

Codiac Transpo buses were kept off the roads, Schools and the Champlain Mall were closed and most businesses either opened an closed early, or decided to stay closed for the day.

High winds caused visibility issues, and made some highways impassable.

It has been a hard winter for snowplow operators, who have been working non stop for the past two months. Crews in the City of Moncton had just gotten the streets cleaned up, almost to where they wanted them, but after the latest storm, it’s like starting all over again.

Over 20 thousand loads of snow have already been hauled to the snow dump in Moncton and there will be more to go in the days to come.
