During the month of May, 91.9 The Bend shared that the Bend Buddies Contest powered by Brix launched. Your kid could enter to win a summer long admission to culinary camp at The Brix Experience! The stories of aspiring mini chefs and bakers was inspiring. On June 1st, The Bend Breakfast with Dex & Catarina announced the two Bend Buddies!
Our first Bend Buddy to win a summer admission to The Brix Culinary Camp for 8 – 13 year olds was Maksym! Here is some of his submission by his mom, Natasha:
Maksym is 10, and he’s been cooking-obsessed pretty much since he figured out how to walk. His first toys weren’t trucks, they were spoons, spatulas, and whisks. By age 2, he was helping me make syrnyky- traditional Ukrainian cottage cheese pancakes.
These days we’re a kitchen team. Weekends mean Eggs Benedict and avocado toast, side by side. Maksym even asks to cook broccoli, which I’m pretty sure violates some kind of 10-year-old code of conduct. He’s the official Christmas cookie supplier to Santa (Santa has not complained), and since Santa returned the favour with a smoothie maker, Max now takes smoothie orders from the whole family like a tiny barista.
He watches Gordon Ramsay and Nick DiGiovanni on YouTube the way other kids watch Minecraft.

Our second Bend Buddy is William, who will attend The Brix Culinary Camp for 13 – 18 year olds. Here is some of Williams submission from his father, Francois:
William is always willing to help in the kitchen and often ask to help without us any help. He ask lots of questions and I can tell he is curious and he would love to get better at cooking. He did try several times to make us a meal or breakfast but he still need to experience and practice before being more comfortable.
When William become passionate about something .. he’s super into it. He loves to be good at things he does and we can tell how proud he is after getting good at anything. He even said that [Entering in The Bend Buddies Contest] would help him see if potentially he would become a Chef after finishing school.
