Ten New Brunswickers were named today as the 2016 recipients of the Order of New Brunswick as a part of the official New Brunswick Day celebrations in St. Stephen.

Those names include John P Barry from Saint John, who is being recognized for his contributions to the province’s legal profession, and for his dedication as a community leader who has positively impacted numerous health-care, educational and social organizations.
Abraham Gesner who is also from Saint John, was also named to the list for his advancements in the study of geology in the province and for his contributions to the global petroleum industry.
Three recipients from Moncton will receive the honour. Nancy Hartling, for her leadership role in advancing the social and economic rights and opportunities for women in her community and across the province, Phil Comeau for his dedication in portraying the Acadian and francophone culture through dozens of his films, and Sheldon Rubin, for his compassion, his high quality of patient care and for his tremendous contributions to cancer prevention and treatment.
A ceremony to present this year’s recipients with their awards will be held at Government House later this fall.
