Daily commuters and truckers that use the Trans Canada Highway between Moncton and Fredericton would really to see it back open to traffic.
It was closed on Thursday night because of flooding.
With water levels going the right way finally, the provincial government and the Maritime Road Development Corporation will review the condition of the highway once they can get access to it.
Along with our partner MRDC, we will conduct detailed field reviews of the roadway as soon as water levels retreat enough to allow for proper access and review.

A lot of debris that has built up on the highway will need to be cleared out.
The roadway will only re-open once any required repairs are completed.
Officials expect when the highway does re-open, it will happen in phases such as single lanes in each direction.
The highway will open following any remedial work that is required to ensure that the highway is safe to accommodate road users.
