Taxi driver assaulted in Moncton, RCMP seek witnesses

Police are asking for the public’s help after a taxi driver was assaulted with a weapon in Moncton.

Mounties stated that the incident occurred inside a taxi at the intersection of High Street and Garfield Street on August 27, at approximately 4:47 a.m.

The driver was taken to the hospital with what officers believe are non-life-threatening injuries.

A man fled the scene on foot before police arrived, according to the RCMP.

He was described as wearing a red hoodie, a baseball hat and a black mask.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has security or dash camera footage, to contact the Codiac Regional RCMP at 506-857-2400.
