It has been almost six months since the economy of Sussex was delivered a major blow when Potash Corp closed its nearby Picadilly mine leaving more than 400 people out of work.
The Sussex and District Chamber of Commerce has been holding a series of meetings with business owners and residents to come up with a strategic plan to move forward.
Chamber President Ivan Graham says he has been impressed by the unity in the community so far.
“People were very forward looking. They believe in Sussex, they believe in the people of Sussex and they believe we have a lot ot offer,” he notes.
Now that strengths of the community have been identified, Graham says the business community must put together a strategic plan to plot the town’s future.
