The Potash Corp mine at Penobsquis will close on November 30th after the company gave it a reprieve last year when markets got stronger.
General Manager Ian Guille says that’s no longer the case with markets soft and prices depressed.
He believes it will be several months before there’s a turnaround.
No company employees will lose their jobs because of the closure but more than 100 contractors will be impacted.
Guille says Potash Corp will now concentrate on its adjacent Picadilly mine.
