Supreme Court Sets Date To Hear Dennis Oland Bail Appeal

The Supreme Court of Canada has set a date for Dennis Oland’s appeal of his bail denial.

The hearing has been set for October 31 of this year, about two weeks after the beginning of his appeal of his second-degree murder conviction is slated to be heard in Fredericton at the New Brunswick Court of Appeal on October 18.

The provincial Court of Appeal twice denied Oland bail pending the outcome of his conviction appeal after which he filed an application to the country’s top court.

The 48-year-old Oland has been sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole for at least 10 years for killing his father, high profile and wealthy businessman Richard Oland, whose bludgeoned body was discovered in his investment firm office in uptown Saint John in July of 2011.
