The Sue Stultz and Moncton Firefighters Association Turkey Drive raised 288 turkeys more than their goal this year.
The goal was set at 4,315 birds, and as of close last night, they had a total of 4,603, according to Sue Stultz..

She says it’s good they passed their goal, because the excess birds go to food banks and soup kitchens.
“We should only not eat turkey at Christmas time, we should be able to eat turkey whenever we want to, maybe,” says Stultz. “And our food banks and our soup kitchens need that help, so when we go over, it’s certainly good for the people that need our help in the area.”
Stultz says none of this would be possible without all the volunteers, especially the firefighters and their families.
“Something that’s very, very important, is the important people that we’re serving, and that’s the people that need our help at Christmas,” says Stultz. “And rest assured that every family that registered with a registered family will have a turkey on Christmas Day.”
