Strong Thunderstorms Strike Fredericton

Strong thunderstorms and lightning strikes have caused power outages in the Greater Fredericton area leaving thousands of customers off the grid.

Twitter is reporting traffic gridlock in the capital city with traffic lights out in the downtown core.

Tree branches have come down and torrential rain has caused some minor flooding.

Environment Canada’s weather radar is showing a line of strong thunderstorms moving from west to northeast across New Brunswick this evening.

The storms appear to be just to the north of Metro Moncton.
