A report of a stolen car is what prompted a heavy police presence in the area around the Moncton Hospital Sunday morning.
Corporal John White says they were called around 7 this morning about a stolen vehicle in that area, and officers began searching.
He says a short time later the vehicle was stopped in the area around Edgett Avenue and Myers Street, and a man was taken into custody.
White adds no one was injured, but there was damage to the stolen vehicle.
He says the driver refused to stop for police, but because it was at low speed, it is not characterized as a high speed chase.
