Standing Ovation For Outgoing Mayor George LeBlanc At Last Council Meeting

After his last speech to Moncton City Council as Mayor, George LeBlanc got a standing ovation from Councillors, Staff and other attendees.

LeBlanc wrapped up eight years in the Mayor’s chair saying he appreciated all the hard work, dedication and perseverance from the Councillors who helped him guide the City.

Deputy Mayor Shawn Crossman complimented the Mayor saying he always had the best interests of citizens at heart.

“And your leadership and direction never waved, and you always took the time and the effort to listen as well as sit down and give solutions,” says Crossman.

Councillor Dawn Arnold said LeBlanc led the City through some difficult times with positivity, humility and courage.

“You never lost track of your goals of enhancing the quality of life and increasing the prosperity for Monctonians,” says Arnold. “And I would like to thank you for your dedication to our city and your enormous personal contribution.”

Councillor Blair Lawrence spoke glowingly saying the Mayor embodied the rich characteristics of healthy discourse, of politeness, and a political generosity of ideas.

“Your measured leadership, coupled with bold initiatives under your tutelage, has, and will serve us well,” says Lawrence. “When some cried that the sky would fall, you prevailed and I thank you for that.”

LeBlanc also took the opportunity to thank City staff who keep Moncton running 24/7, and helped make it the best city in Atlantic Canada.
