St. Stephen women killed in Maine crash

Two women from St. Stephen have died after a multi-vehicle crash in Maine last week.

Emergency crews responded to a crash on Route 9 in Township 30 around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Maine State Police said it appears a car crossed the centre line and collided with a loaded log truck.

“There were two secondary crashes with other tractor-trailers that did not contribute to any loss of life,” police said in a news release.

The driver and passenger in the car died at the scene while the driver of the log truck was not physically hurt.

Police have identified the victims as Tiffany Tinker, 35, and Jennifer Sutherland, 36.

Investigators said roadway conditions appear to have been a factor in the crash.
