Spring Byelection Planned In Dieppe To Fill Vacancy

A byelection will be held in May to replace a vacant councillor-at-large position in the City of Dieppe.

Jordan Nowlan resigned from council in the fall to accept a new job opportunity as a lifeguard with Disney Cruise Lines in The Bahamas.

Nowlan was 19 years old and just graduating from high school when he was elected in 2012 as one of the youngest politicians in Canada.

Although he was inexperienced at the time, Dieppe Mayor Yvon Lapierre says Nowlan brought a different opinion to the council table.

Lapierre adds the vacant council seat has created a great deal of interest among many in the community and he looks forward to the spring vote.
