Special Air Canada Flights to Bring Home Canadians

Air Canada will send six special flights to South America and Europe this week, in an effort to bring home Canadians stranded abroad.

“Several hundred Canadians trapped in Peru, Ecuador and Spain since the imposition of restrictive travel measures by the authorities will finally be able to return home,” said Calin Rovinescu, President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Canada, in a release issued Monday afternoon.

Starting on Tuesday, three flights will travel between Toronto and Lima. On Wednesday, two flights will travel from Quito to Toronto, and one more will fly from Barcelona to Montreal.

The release estimated the airline has returned 200,000 Canadians from international destinations over the past week.

Currently, Air Canada has plans to operate more than 1,000 flights to international destinations before the end of the month.
