Southern NB Edging Towards Record Snow Amounts

It’s pretty obvious. We have a lot of snow.

Environment Canada reporting St. Stephen is currently measuring 61 cms of snow on the ground, which is above the normal amounts of around 20 cms of snow.

Meteorologist Jean-Marc Couturier says Southern New Brunswick is edging towards record values. He says Saint John is measuring the highest in the province at 186 cms of snow on the ground. He notes there’s quite a range of values and amounts as you go through the Fundy region.

He says it’s very unusual to see that much snow on the ground. “Particularly since the last week of January, since about the 20th of January, we’ve stayed in the cold air, storm after storm, and every one of them brought large snowfall amounts.”

Couturier says these numbers highlight just how relentless the winter storms and blizzards have been for the past few weeks.
