Some Kidde Smoke Alarms Being Recalled

If you bought a Kidde smoke alarm recently, you’ll want to make sure it’s not part of this recall.

The recall targets two dual-sensor models, PI2010CA and PI9010CA, manufactured between Sept. 10, 2016, and Oct. 13, 2017.

Health Canada says they have a pill-shaped design on the front and a yellow cap visible through the opening on the side of the alarm.

Officials say the yellow cap can cover one of the two smoke sensors, which may reduce the alarm’s ability to detect smoke.

If you don’t see a yellow cap in your smoke alarm, it’s not affected by the recall.

About 40,000 of the alarms were sold in Canada and about 452,000 in the United States, but no injuries or incidents have been reported.
