Some Greater Moncton trails closed due to wildfire risk

Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview have decided to close some of their trails due to the ongoing extreme wildfire hazard.

Moncton has closed Irishtown and Mapleton parks, along with the Centennial Park trails and the Riverfront Trail between the West Main traffic circle and the Gunningsville Bridge.

Residents are urged to use extreme caution when using any non-wooded trails, open parks and green spaces.

In Dieppe, all trails are closed at Rotary St-Anselme and Bonaventure parks. Fasian Park between Richard Street and Melanson Road is also closed, along with the Lakeburn and Mathieu-Martin disc golf courses.

The block party for Ward 5, scheduled for Tuesday at Rotary St-Anselme Park, has been cancelled.

Wooded trails on Richard Street, Melanson Road, Dieppe Boulevard, Aquatique Street, Doreen Crescent, Bourque Road, du Golf Street, Maurice Crescent, Boisée Street, Centrale Street, Vanier Street and Avant-Garde Street are also closed.

Riverview has closed the Dobson Trail as well as all trails at the Mill Creek Nature Park.

The Perseids meteor shower party planned for Monday evening in Mill Creek has also been cancelled, and the block party for wards three and four, scheduled for Tuesday, has been called off.

The Gunningville Trail in Riverview remains open, along with the portions of the Riverfront Trail that run through Riverview and Dieppe.
