Today is National S’mores Day celebrating a family campfire tradition that involves toasted marshmallow, graham crackers and chocolate made into a messy, sticky mess of a sandwich. The gooey combination was first documented in a 1927 Girl Scout handbook under the recipe name “Some More,” which over the decades has since been abbreviated to S’more. There are so many different variations out there to try, I’ve seen shared recipes for Candied Bacon S’mores, Peanut Butter Cookie S’more, Roasted Berries S’mores, Salted Caramel, Chocolate Chip Cookie and Nutella S’more, The Elvis S’more (it has Peanut Butter and Banana) and the ooey, gooey Rice Krispy Square S’more. I think basically if there’s a toasted marshmallow involved, it’s a S’more.
