Smell Of Smoke Forces Emergency Landing At Moncton Airport

An Air Canada flight was forced to make an emergency landing earlier today at the Greater Moncton Romeo Leblanc International Airport.

Dieppe Fire District Chief Julien Boudreau says a reported smell of smoke in the cockpit forced the plane down just after 6am.

Airport spokesperson Julie Pondant says the Canadair Regional Jet was on its way from Sydney to Toronto.

Airport Firefighters checked the cockpit, but couldn’t detect anything.

The over 30 people onboard got off the plane, and were awaiting word of whether or not the plane was safe to fly again.
