Investigation Underway After Small Fire At Church

A fire at Notre Dame de l’Assomption Cathedrale on St. George Street is under investigation.

Moncton Fire Platoon Chief Brian Mcdonald says last night, an accelerant was stuffed into an exhaust pipe on the outside wall of the church and then lit.

A neighbour managed to extinguish the flames

McDonald says there was minor damage to the outside of the building.

He adds this could be a case of mischief, but the Fire Marshall and RCMP have been called in to investigate.
