Slo-Pitch League Introduces Face Mask Rule For Pitchers

It will soon be time to get back out on the field for another slo-pitch season.

A new rule this year within the Metro Moncton Slo-Pitch league will see pitchers taking an extra step to protect themselves.

They will be required to wear face masks.

President of the League Richard Hay told us, this is stated in their insurance that is provided through Slo-Pitch National.

He agrees that it is a good idea to help protect the players, especially with the bats that are being used these days.

Several accidents across the country last year involved players who had be struck in the head, and that caused serious injuries and at least one death.

Some leagues in Canada are also looking at making helmets mandatory for batters playing slo-pitch as well.
