Imagine an event similar to the Olympics, but designed to demonstrate skilled trades instead.
The Skills Canada National Competition is being held in Moncton on June 6th and 7th.

Executive Director Luc Morin says roughly 600 youth from across the country, will take over the Moncton Coliseum, “First time ever, it has ever been held in the province of New Brunswick. Skills Canada New Brunswick has been holding these events since the 90’s, and we have gone to the provincials and nationals in various provinces, and now we have it on our own turf.”
All of the students have qualified to represent their province or territory in this competition.
The skilled trades include cooking, carpentry, welding, and machining.
Many of the youth hope to move on to compete with Team Canada, at Worldskills Abu Dhabi next year.
