A total of 14 jurors and two alternates will be needed before the trial can begin.
Oland was convicted in the 2011 death of his father, Richard Oland, in 2015.
But the New Brunswick Court of Appeal overturned the conviction and ordered a new trial 10 months later.
The new trial is expected to last 65 days.
First juror of the day, a woman, has been sworn in. There are now four women and two men on the jury.
